		  seconds into launch, causing a major setback in the US
		  space program.
Dec. 1986	Renegade Admiral James T. Kirk and his crew appear in San
		  Francisco and return to their own time period with two
		  humpbacked whales, named George and Gracie.
August 1987	Avenger is "abducted by aliens" and returned to his home
		  planet, after his people first stop the exploits of one of
		  their bigger failures, BOB, who has taken host of a man in
		  the American Northwest and killed his daughter.
1992?-1996?	The Eugenics Wars, sometimes known as "World War III."
		  Khan Noonian Singh takes control of a large portion of
		  the Earth at one point.

		Captain Robert April takes command of the _USS Enterprise_,
		  NCC-1701.
		Captain Christopher Pike commands the _USS Enterprise_ with
		  the help of a young science officer named Spock.

		Captain James T. Kirk commands the _USS Enterprise_.

		  place over an approx. 6 month period).  Star Trek IV
		  introduces the NCC-1701-A _USS Enterprise_.

		  Jean-Luc Picard of the _USS Stargazer_, in combat with an
		  unidentified craft (later known as Ferengi), invents a new
		  tactic henceforth known as the Picard Maneuver.  Picard
		  scuttles the _Stargazer_ after destroying the Ferengi ship,
		  but the Ferengi salvage and return it on Stardate 41723.9.
		  (This takes place approx. nine years before 41723.9.  Events
		   are referred to in ST:TNG "The Battle".)

EVENTS OF STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION
(78 years take place between Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and ST:TNG
 first season.  By 40000, the metric calendar has been fixed so that
 each 1000 represents one year of time.  Timing is very inconsistent
 before this.)

41153.7		ST:TNG "Encounter at Farpoint" (begins 1st Season ST:TNG)
		  -- First mission of the _USS Enterprise_-D.  First encounter
		  with the omnipotent being(s) known as "Q."
41986.0		ST:TNG "The Neutral Zone" -- First signs of Borg action along
		  the Federation-Romulan Neutral Zone, although they are not
		  yet recognized *as* Borg.  First contact with the Romulans
		  in over 50 years.  The year is identified as 2364 on the
		  old scale.
42073.1		ST:TNG "The Child" (begins 2nd Season ST:TNG)
42761.3		ST:TNG "Q Who?" -- Q causes the NCC-1701-D, commanded by
		  Jean-Luc Picard, to make first contact with the Borg.
42923.4		ST:TNG "Peak Performance" -- Picard & Riker play war games
		  in order to beef up training for future Borg encounters,
		  but they are disrupted by *Ferengi* involvement.  Lt. Cdr.
		  Data and Sirna Kolrami play Stratigema to stalemate and
		  set a new record score.
43125.8		ST:TNG "Evolution" (begins 3rd Season ST:TNG)
43989.1 -	ST:TNG "The Best of Both Worlds" (Part 2 begins 4th Season)
  44001.4	  -- The Borg send a ship in to take over the Earth.  39?
		  ships are destroyed at Wolf 359, but the NCC-1701-D saves
		  the day in what comes to be known as the "Picard Miracle."
44793.6		ST:TNG "Vendetta" -- Several Borg vessels enter Federation
		  space after one vessel comes in contact with a Doomsday
		  Machine, an improvement on the model encountered by Captain
		  James T. Kirk and Commodore Matthew Decker some 95 years
		  before.  Picard, Korsmo and Taggart repel both the Borg
		  and the Doomsday Machine, with important help from Guinan.

93421		The Regulan government awards Capt. Avenger with the Shield
